Resident Evil 5 takes the series further into co-op action, swapping isolation for partner-based gunfights and a brighter, more combat-driven tone. It is less frightening than earlier games, but very readable and energetic.

Resident Evil 5 pushes the series further toward action and cooperative spectacle, trading some claustrophobic dread for louder encounters and set pieces. Even so, the tension between limited resources and aggressive enemies still gives the shooting an edge that keeps it from becoming a totally weightless arcade ride.
