The Crew is a huge open-world racer that stretches a compressed version of the United States into one giant cross-country road trip. It is less precise than a sim and more interested in the fantasy of never running out of road.
The original Crew uses the road-trip scale of the United States as its biggest hook, letting travel itself become part of the fantasy rather than just the spaces between races. It is a more casual, exploratory spin on driving games, where the map size contributes as much to the mood as the cars do.
