The two clients do not handle every setting the same way. Hone tunes the shared Windows layer, while you keep each client set up for the way it works.
Use the Optimal frame limiter first. The osu! wiki warns that Unlimited can cause stutter, while Optimal has almost no visible latency change.
lazer polls input at 1,000 Hz even when frames are capped. Use its built-in latency test instead of chasing an unlimited FPS number.
The osu! team says settings do not yet import from stable to lazer. Check both after any change.
Hone does not add aim assist, autoplay, relax, macros, or input automation.
Hone works with supported game and Windows settings. It does not inject into osu! or edit live game memory.
Old hardware, heat, drivers, beatmap effects, and background apps can still limit your result.

Our saved osu! benchmark rose from 310 to 563 average FPS with Hone applied. That is 253 more average FPS, or an 82% gain in this test.

The saved test did not name the osu! client build. Your result will depend on stable or lazer, the beatmap, settings, PC, drivers, heat, and apps open in the background.
Start with full screen and a frame limiter that fits your client. Turn down beatmap videos, storyboards, shaders, and heavy effects if frame times still jump. Test one change at a time.
Close heavy apps, check PC heat, update graphics drivers, and test a simple beatmap. In stable, try the Optimal frame limiter. In lazer, run the built-in latency test and compare settings.
It depends on your PC. The osu! team says lazer is faster on most modern hardware, but some systems still run stable better. Test both clients with the same beatmap and background apps.
Not by default. The osu! wiki says Unlimited in stable can cause stutter and recommends Optimal. lazer polls input at 1,000 Hz even with a frame cap, so more FPS does not always mean less input delay.
